Bug-O Modular Drive System

When weld quality and high travel speeds are of concern, mechanized and automatic welding processes are often looked to for solutions. The Bug-O Modular Drive System is a mechanized welding system that rides the welding torch along the weld joint. A variety of welding process can be used in conjunction with the Bug-O Modular Drive System. Gas metal arc welding, flux cored arc welding, and gas tungsten arc welding are a few processes that are compatible with the Bug-O Modular Drive System. The Bug-O Modular Drive System can be programmed to travel along a weld joint at a constant speed all the while perfectly maintaining the travel angle, work angle, and manipulation pattern of the torch. The Bug-O Modular Drive System is the only product in the industry that allows the user to configure one machine for various automated applications. The MDS produces precise, accurate cuts and welds. The master drive unit has a high torque, low inertia motor for precise stops and starts and a dedicated fail-safe brake with three times the stopping and holding power of the motor. The unit is equipped with motor overload protection which turns the motor off and engages the brake whenever an excessive load is placed on the machine. In addition, the master drive features closed loop speed control for adjustable, repeatable control of critical welding or cutting parameters, and closed loop position control to prevent creep.
